YAG Laser Power PCB investigation
The YAG was bought working, and at some stage has failed, either in transport or on initial powerup. This page documents our investigation.

- chiller wouldnt power on.
- motion control powered on.
- pc not booting - resolved by members reseating components.

- Swapped phases in the control box at the circuit breaker to get power on with chiller, this let everything except the laser power module work

- 13/04/2021: @moltenaluminium finds the fuses are bad/loose and replaced the 3-phase input diodes PART:BY448CT-ND DESC: DIODE AVALANCHE 1500V 2A SOD57 Vishay General Semiconductor - Diodes Division ( / BY448TR
- 21/04/2021: First investigation by @badbiki, notes theres been a diode blown and caused a chain reaction of ics failing,
- 26/04/2021: @badbiki replaces a large amount of components on the power board.
- U107 (LM358) was a 32Vdc part on a 38Vdc regulated Vcc rail. A input voltage surge is the likely cause of this IC failure
- Failed chip identified by large temperature increase and current draw on benchtop power supply.
- 27/04/2021: Board powers on
- 18/05/2021: Phases are swapped back in the control box, and are swapped at the transformer in the box instead. This is where we start to get the INPUT UNV error. @badbiki did we replace more components at this point? i think we did…

- 23/08/2021: 3rd party sparky has a look, notes phases are mismatched going into black box 1, sorts it out so phases are the same from transformer to control box and to black box 1. notes no other obvious issues. Tests the transformer voltage and resistance, notes it is identical to the tortech within a few volts. only difference is about 65ohm resistance between neutral and phase.
- 27/08/2021: Optocoupler U113 seems the likely culprit for error UNV. It was originally a TL250 which has a input current range of 6.5-10mA. The replacement IC used is a ACPL312T which has an input current range of 0.8mA-5mA. Since the original IC requires a minimum 6.5mA, it is likely the new IC has been overcurrented and damaged.
