Cause Area Expectations
* Only use tools you know how to use or have been inducted on.
* Ask for help or guidance when you need it.
* Only use tools in the way they are intended to be used.
* Leave the area as clean or cleaner than you found it.
* Because art and creativity is subjective and personal, please do not provide unsolicited critique, suggestions or help with someone’s project. Instead, you may wish to offer your help, but allow the crafter to decline.
* Respect that some crafters may not want to break their focus to talk or answer questions. The exception to this rule is in the case of dangerous or disrespectful tool use and emergencies.
* Please make sure to put money in the donation tin (see below) for consumables that you appreciated using so that we can replenish them.
What is Craftpunk?
Previously known as the “Createatorium”, Meka started this cause around 2014 to expand on HSBNE's creative potential.
Craftpunk is a Cause dedicated to the more artistic pursuits of HSBNE members. Having its origins in Cosplay and Larping, crafts such as sewing, moulding and casting, jewellery, printing, painting, models, pottery and kiln firing, are to be found in Craftpunk. We want to make crafting fun and accessible for HSBNE members and the greater community.
Our approach is to provide equipment, tools and a link to instruction, more so than providing materials and consumables. A limited supply of consumables are kept in Craftpunk, (see below). As a general rule, members supply the materials they are crafting with.
Craftpunk values creativity, cooperation and respectful behaviour towards others, the available equipment and the Space.
Monthly MeetUp
Craftpunk hosts a regular Monthly MeetUp on the first Saturday of each month from noon. It is open to all members of HSBNE and the general public. Come along and enjoy the company of fellow Hackers while you work on your current projects, or think about your future projects, or reminisce about the projects of the past.
Events and Classes
We have regular events such as Working Bees to improve our space, and Classes so that members and the public can learn a new skill in a relaxed, friendly environment.
All of HSBNE's classes and events can be found on Eventbrite.
