3D Printing Notes

I like using SketchUp to draw 3D models because it's so easy to use. It's a bit simplistic, so when you export an STL file, it probably won't work very well when loaded into a slicer. I've managed to overcome this by running my STL files through FormWare's Free STL Repair Tool

BambuLabs X1C Quick Reference

Swipe card on interloc (don't to log into the Portal first). This will boot up the X1C and make it available to the PC.
On the PC beside the X1C, open OrcaSlicer (and probably insert the USB thumb drive that contains your .STL file)
In a new project, click the “add” button at the top of the screen…

While on the “Prepare” view, review a couple of basic settings. “Cool Plate” and “0.20mm Strength” are pretty safe bets…

Consider using supports if your design requires it…

Click “Slice All” to switch from the “Prepare” to the “Preview' view…

The vertical scroll bar to the right can give you an impression of how your design will be printed. Drag on the view with the left mouse button to rotate, and with the right mouse button to pan.

HSBNE, is a community-driven makerspace.
Brief History

Membership costs $100/month, $60/month for volunteers
Memberships are given a swipe card that grants 24×7 access to the site and all facilities.
There are some limitations to that 24×7 access. For example, sleeping on site is forbidden.
Certain equipment requires an induction. Once the induction has been completed your site card is updated with your permission to use the machine.
The site interloc system controls access to the site and secured equipment.
Swipe events are logged on our discord server publicly which is a useful way to see who is on site.
swipe cards can also be credited with “space bucks” which you can use for some vending machines
vending machines and some materials are freely available and depend on the honesty system. You can make donations to re-imburse the space for food/drink/materials that you use.
